Our founder,Leah Tesfamariam,a young Kenyan girl spent one year on a leadership exchange program sponsored by the US government in Ohio which spurred her interest to bring the opportunities and resources that children in the US have to her rural home through a community library.
She noted the following areas of concern among girls in her village:-
-Lack of access to basic learning material.
-Lack of mentors to help kids shape their dreams
-Lack of exposure to such things as technology and reading books.
-Lack of a safe environment/activities to spend leisure time.
-Early marriages due to lack of safe activities to engage in on holiday.
-Stigma & lack of support for underage moms to resume learning.
