Leah Tesfamariam was an ACES/ YES student who graduated with an honary diploma from Eastwood High School in Pemberville, OH in 2009/10 with a 4.0 GPA. Her parents always encouraged her to read books. When she returned to Kenya she decided to continue her studies with a goal to make a difference in her country and to help with womens issues. She entered the Miss Kanya pagent in 2013 and won First Runner up. Her platform lead her to many opportunities to get involved in womens issues. The main concern is girls not getting a good education and women oppression issues. She decided to build a Library in Homa Bay, Kenya and has asked her friends in Ohio/USA to help. We have collected a truck full of books and now need to raise the funds to send them. Leah was a guest speaker for the American Councils in Washington DC recently and came to Ohio to help with her campaign. She met with the Principals of her schools in Eastwood and neighboring schools and was thrilled to see the books and library items so generously donated. Our goal is to ship the container to Kenya in June, 2017. It will cost $4,000 to send the container , $2,000 for her to get the container out of the shipping yard and sent by truck to Homa Bay. We ned to purchase library items to send with the container-shelves, chairs, book ends, paper, printer, computers and more. You can make a difference in the lives of girls and a country by helping with this project. We appreciate your love and donations!
